Anthony Joshua’s Advice for Alex Pereira Sparks Heated Debate With Magomed Ankalaev

Alex Pereira has already built a resume worthy of a combat sports GOAT. Pereira has impressed Anthony Joshua, the former unified boxing champion. Joshua even pondered the idea of the Brazilian in professional boxing, resulting in a stern rebuttal from Magomed Ankalaev.

Ankalaev, undefeated in the last 12 UFC fights, has been clamoring for a light heavyweight title shot. The UFC seems to be going in that direction, but the British Olympic Gold medalist’s suggestion to ‘Poatan’ appeared to have unknowingly rubbed the Russian the wrong way.

Ankalaev Challenges Joshua Over Pereira Boxing Talk

In September, Anthony Joshua will take on Daniel Dubois for the vacant IBF heavyweight title. With a title triumph on the horizon, Joshua decided to delve into some MMA affairs, suggesting some ideas to the UFC light heavyweight champion.

“Alex Pereira should make a boxing debut one day,” tweeted Joshua, to which Pereira responded, I’m honored you think so. It’s always been my dream, I’m 37 I cannot make a career in it so who do you recommend I fight?”

Interestingly, Joshua suggested Pereira contact his management team, 258MGT. However, Magomed Ankalaev apparently felt disturbed by the conversation between the Olympic Gold medalist and Glory Kickboxing Hall of Famer.

“You’re trying to get one more easy payday what about you come to the @ufc real fighting,” the Russian light heavyweight sent a stern response to Joshua, seemingly referencing the boxers’s recent fight over Francis Ngannou.

“Me vs. you, I’m knocking you out in the first round. You don’t need boxing; you need your biggest challenge in your life,” the Russian responded to Pereira, even mentioning Dana White and Mick Maynard.

Pereira has already conquered two different sports against all odds. Does he have it in him to conquer the sweet science? Anthony Joshua thinks so. ‘Poatan’ has always made haters swallow their words. He might do it once more.
