Tom Cruise looked in good spirits despite being injured as he arrived to London via helicopter on Thursday.

Walking across the tarmac at Battersea helipad, the Hollywood actor, 62, appeared to have suffered a painful hand injury.

The Mission Impossible star’s knuckle on his right hand looked pink and grazed as he carried a black padded jacket while crossing the concourse.

The injury looked to be healing well and while it is unknown how he sustained the graze he is currently filming for the upcoming Mission Impossible movie.

MailOnline have contacted Tom’s representatives for comment.

Smiling from his helicopter, Tom beamed and gave a thumbs up as he touched down in the English capital.

Keeping it simple but stylish, Tom opted for a navy jumper and dark blue denim jeans while he carried his coat.

He completed the look with his signature shades and sporty white trainers as he swung his backpack over his shoulders.

It comes after Tom made a rare appearance with his sister Marian on his 62nd birthday on Wednesday.

The star had been filming scenes for the long-awaited sequel Mission Impossible 8 at Longcross Studios and was boarding his helicopter in Battersea with his sibling.

Tom was joined by his director Christopher McQuarrie and his wife Heather to board the chopper after another day’s work on the film.

Marian was equally happy as she made her way along the landing pad, cutting a relaxed figure in a black padded jacket and matching loose trousers.

Tom has three sisters, Marian, Lee-Ann and Cass, and the actor has remained close to all of his siblings throughout his life. Their mother Mary Lee died in 2017.

In a 2006 interview with Parade magazine, Tom detailed the abuse he endured growing up from his father Thomas Cruise Mapother III, who died in 1984.

He said Thomas ‘was a bully and a coward… the kind of person where, if something goes wrong, they kick you. It was a great lesson in my life – how he’d lull you in, make you feel safe and then, bang!’

He added: ‘For me, there’s something wrong with this guy. Don’t trust him. Be careful around him. There’s that anxiety.’

As a result of the abuse the siblings formed a tight-knit bond, with Tom even declaring a few years ago: ‘I would live with all of my sisters if I could. We have always been very close, my sisters and me.’

And it appears now that dream has come true, with his family reported to have moved into a luxury Scientology building in Florida just a stones throw away from the church’s global headquarters.

Despite their close relationship, however, the star has rarely been seen with his sisters in public, perhaps because his siblings took vastly different paths to the Academy Award winner.

Sharing Tom’s avid belief in the church of Scientology, his sister Cass Capazorio is director of a company that helps run courses in the religion, sometimes referred to as a cult, that was born in America during the 1950s.

His other sister, Lee Anne Gillotte is a former publicist who now works managing the luxury Skyview building where the quartet live and being treasurer of the he ‘Skyview Condominium Association Inc’.

According to The Sun his third sister Marian Henry, her son Cal and daughter-in-law Marjorye, are also all Scientologists.

His brother in law Greg, who is married to Cass, is also said to be the head of another company that helps to rehabilitate prisoners using Scientology techniques.

It is perhaps unsurprising that Tom has remained close to his siblings after he dedicated much of his younger years to helping raise his sisters as they endured a tough childhood at the hands of their abusive father Thomas Cruise Mapother III.

Reflecting on the abuse he endured from his father in a 2006 interview with Parade magazine, he said Thomas ‘was a bully and a coward… the kind of person where, if something goes wrong, they kick you’.

‘It was a great lesson in my life – how he’d lull you in, make you feel safe and then, bang,’ he added.

‘For me, there’s something wrong with this guy. Don’t trust him. Be careful around him. There’s that anxiety.’

On the other hand, he described his mother Mary lee with love and care, calling her a ‘very warm, charismatic woman, very kind, very generous’.
