IT’S one of the most respectable award shows of the season – but all eyes will be on Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift as they are expected to be reunited on the red carpet this evening

.

The couple split last month after a whirlwind romance that saw them meet each others parents and pack on PDA in a host of exotic destinations.

Tom is up for the Best Actor award for his part in hit drama The Night Manager and Taylor is also expected to make an appearance at the event – so it will be the first time they will be in the same room since they broke off their four month fling.

Pals of the star, who has long been in the running to star as the next James Bond, are allegedly hoping that they will avoid each other – or even better, if she doesn’t turn up at all.

A source told the Daily Star: “Taylor is still on the guest list. But everyone on Team Tom is hoping and praying she’ll do the decent thing and stay at home and watch it on TV for his sake.”

They added: “He is still shell-shocked over their split and just setting eyes on her could send him into a tailspin.”

The couple, nicknamed Hiddleswift, came to an end amidst claims that Tom was a commitmentphobe and, despite wearing a I heart TS t-shirt during her Independence Day getaway and introducing her to his mum in the U.K., had grown tired of her.

However, others claim that Taylor, who had only recently called time on her long-term romance with Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, was upset that the Tom was so quick to want to make their relationship public.

He had even bagged her a spot on the Emmy’s guest list in the first place as his plus one.

A source exclusively told The Sun: “He’s done his duty so he thought it was only fair she repays the favour herself and is by his side at the Emmys.

“He’s humiliated that she’s so against it and won’t put her tradition of avoiding red carpet events with boyfriends to one side for him on his big night.”

On the split, a pal also revealed: “Taylor completely bought into Tom, he was a refreshing, charismatic bundle of fun, a joy to be with and she was besotted.
 “Her pals loved his nature too. She thought he had the whole package and she believed it could develop into something more than a summer romance, so she was bewildered by claims it was all staged.
“But it quickly became apparent that his intentions were different to hers — forcing her to cut ties.”
