Stephen A. Smith joined a host of analysts to express their views on Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson, whose future with the franchise is uncertain. He spoke on ESPN’s “First Take” on Tuesday, where he asserted that the end is near for the four-time NBA winning guard.
Furthermore, as a well-known New York Knicks fan, Stephen A. Smith stated that plenty of teams in the league would love the idea of adding Thompson to their roster. He would celebrate if his favorite team were to sign him, he added
I think that when you look at Klay Thompson, this is his way of saying goodbye, preparing himself for the end in Golden State. Let me assure you, there’s at least 20-25 teams that should want Klay Thompson. And let me raise my hand; those New York Knicks should be one of them.Stephen A. Smith said
Recently, Klay Thompson and teammate Draymond Green had a conversation on “The Draymond Green Show,” where the conversation was about the former’s decision about his career. The impression Stephen A. Smith got from the conversation gave him the feeling that the end was near.
Furthermore, there’s no argument that Thompson was a key contributor to the Splash Bros during the Dubs’ golden era, where they won four rings in 10 years; however, he has struggled with injuries and form.
This season saw him benched for the first time in a long while in his illustrious career. With his desire to remain with the Warriors, their current financial decision could make it difficult for both parties to agree quickly.
Klay Thompson hits five from beyond the arc in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers
Kalu Thompson was the Golden State Warriors’ top scorer in the 134-120 away win against the Los Angeles Lakers, as he scored five three-pointers to finish the contest with 27 points from 10/16 field goals and three assists.
He ensured that the Dubs won for the second straight game and consigned the Lakers to their second home loss in a row.
Furthermore, the game witnessed the Warriors set an NBA record for the best three-point shooting percentage in a game (63.4%), with the Splash Bros all making five+ threes each for the first time in nine years. The win also ensured that the Dubs secured the tie-breaker over their rivals.
The Warriors have a game in hand and are 10th on the Western Conference standings with a record of 44-35. Next for them is an away game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
