NBA insider reveals Steph Curry’s ‘leadership’ doubted by ‘high-level’ people for Draymond Green’s problematic behavior

Jay Williams appeared on Thursday’s ESPN’s First Take. He revealed that high-level officials in the league began questioning the leadership of Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry. It came following another disciplinary issue from veteran guard Draymond Green.

The recent eviction of Green has questioned Curry’s ability to control his issues effectively.

Draymond Green received another ejection during the 101-93 away win against the Orlando Magic. Curry was seen reacting emotionally to the incident.

The former NBA player, Williams, revealed a growing concern that Steph Curry lacked the leadership to control Green. As a result, his reputation as the Warriors’ leader is tarnished. This is what Williams said:

I'm getting texts from people that I really value their decision, right? High-level people. And what these texts are reading is, well, how about the leadership of Stephen Curry? That's where these conversations are going... For him, not controlling Draymond.

Green’s absence from the team contributed to the miserable season for the Dubs. Not making the playoffs when Curry is playing in excellent form will become an embarrassment for the Warriors. Steph Curry has performed in peak condition for the last two seasons. However, his teammates did not match the same energy.

Curry’s internal efforts to address the issue raised many questions, considering how he visibly reacted. The most prominent one is about his role as a leader. One cannot question Curry’s leadership style for Green’s poor discipline. However, his failure to publicly take a stand has led to the current situation.

Draymond Green’s antics hurting Curry and the Golden State Warriors

Reports emerged that Draymond Green’s poor discipline has cast a shadow on the leadership abilities of teammate Steph Curry. This was evident in Green’s refusal to listen to Curry in heated moments. Both Curry and Green remain integral to the Dubs. Hence, the Warriors need Green’s focus and discipline to advance into the postseason.

Moreover, the absence of the veteran guard from injuries or suspensions has significantly affected the Dubs’ on-court performance. Green has missed a total of 25 games this season. Seventeen of them came due to his run-in with the league’s disciplinary guidelines.

This resulted in the indefinite suspension imposed by the NBA. It has affected the team immensely.

Sadly, the Warriors’ record of 11-14 in his absence has also contributed to them struggling to make it to the postseason. Currently, they sit in the 10th position on the hotly contested Western Conference standings. It remains to be seen whether the team will move past the problems and make their way into the postseason.
