LeBron James is still playing at an insanely high level, even though he is almost 40.
He is the oldest active player in the NBA, and after dropping 40 points against the Brooklyn Nets this Sunday in the Lakers’ victory 116-104 and breaking a personal record in three-pointers (he went 9-10 from downtown), everyone would think he still has plenty of gas in the tank.
Despite his stellar performance, ‘King James’ humbly acknowledges the reality in a post-game interview. He reveals his self-awareness, admitting that he is in the twilight of his NBA career and that retirement is looming.
LeBron James talked to Jovan Buha of The Athletic and said the following regarding his retirement.
Not very long. … I’m not gonna play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure. But not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I’ll retire. But I don’t have much time left.
Will he hold off to retire to play with Bronny James?

Over the years, LeBron James has made it clear publicly that he has one more goal he wants to achieve before ending his storied NBA career.
James, the Association’s all-time leading scorer, wants to play with his eldest son Bronny — who began his NCAA career this season at the University of Southern California.
LeBron wants to achieve that goal before retiring and may extend his career to do it.
Bronny James’ college career was delayed after he suffered a life-threatening cardiac arrest over the summer, while LeBron’s future with the Los Angeles Lakers hinges on whether he picks up his player option for next season.
