“If LeBron’s still your best player…” Anthony Davis should be traded from Lakers, says Jamal Crawford in bold take

The Los Angeles Lakers have been playing fantastically lately. They had a difficult start to the season and some underwhelming performances, but they have begun to play more seriously as the playoffs draw near.

Even though there were a lot of concerns about the Lakers’ current roster, former NBA player Jamal Crawford couldn’t help but submit Anthony Davis‘ name as a trade request in exchange for a better roaster.

In a discussion with Shaquille O’Neal on “The Big Podcast” on March 27, Jamal Crawford explained why the Lakers’ best chance of surrounding LeBron James with a championship-caliber team would be through the trade of Anthony Davis.

Even so, Lakers great O’Neal continues to have faith in James and Davis to guide the team to an NBA championship.

Jamal Crawford said:

My thing is, if LeBron's still your best player at this point, I'm looking at trading Anthony Davis. I'm just telling you, you can get 4-5 pieces to go with him that fit LeBron if LeBron still gonna be your best player. They need another wing, a dominant wing scorer.

Jamal Crawford said

Davis is the team’s second-best player and is averaging 24.7 this season. He has been fantastic all around. But for the Lakers to have any chance of being competitive in the postseason, he needs to be more than that.

Is Anthony Davis really up for trade with the Lakers?

In addition to being a superstar in his own right, Davis is among the league’s top defenders. However, there are still unanswered concerns regarding his leadership qualities and longevity on the floor.

However, not only have LeBron James and Davis played admirably this season thus far, but they have also been healthy for almost the whole duration.

Given how often the topic of Anthony Davis’ trade has come up in the last few months, the question is valid. However, the Laker’s NBA title drought is the true issue. The Lakers won the championship in 2020, and Davis was a key squad member. However, a title is now required, as it has been four years.

The five-match winning streak make the current situation appear favorable. However, it looks like the Lakers’ future is just play-in competitions. With just over ten games left in the regular season, they are ranked ninth in the Western Conference. The Davis trade is in some way close, and there may be further unexpected news if they are unable to make the playoff matchup.
