The Golden State Warriors got a crucial road win tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers. Stephen Curry and Co. dominated the Lakers from start to finish and blew them out 134-120. A major reason for the Warriors’ impressive victory was their elite shooting performance from the three-point line. And surprisingly, Draymond Green was at the forefront of their attack. Green shot lights out tonight, making 5 of his 7 attempts from beyond the arc. He finished with 15 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Green’s scoring outburst even garnered huge appreciation from Hall of Famer Reggie Miller. During the live broadcast, Miller deemed Draymond a “Splash Cousin” to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson after witnessing his elite shooting performance. However, Draymond rejected family ties with the Splash Brothers for one stressful reason, “I appreciate the compliment, but I don’t want that pressure.”
“I had a night, and I take my night. But I don’t need that pressure.” Green added. The Forward showed tonight that he can get going from the three-point line occasionally when his team needs him. But the nightly responsibility of shooting from deep still lies on Steph and Klay’s shoulders. And the Splash Brothers undoubtedly lived up to the expectations tonight.
Klay made 5 three-pointers in the game, finishing with 27 points and 3 assists. And Steph shot a perfect 6 of 6 from beyond the arc, scoring 23 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. The Warriors collectively shot a whopping 63.4% from the three-point line tonight, which proved to be the difference-maker against the Lakers.
LeBron James and Co. struggled without Anthony Davis
The Warriors were so efficient from the field tonight because they were getting a lot of open looks. The biggest reason was the absence of Lakers Forward Anthony Davis. The 9-time All-Star missed tonight’s game dealing with headache and nausea following the eye injury he suffered on Sunday. The Lakers struggled on both ends of the floor in AD’s absence. Although LeBron scored 33 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds, he got little to no help from his teammates during crunch time.
Rui Hachimura missed multiple crucial shots in the 4th quarter and even got blocked twice during the final minutes of the game. Those misses cost the Lakers immensely as they led to the Warriors scoring on the other end. Had Anthony Davis been on the floor for the Lakers, he could have converted those clutch buckets with higher efficiency. It is still uncertain when Davis will return to the lineup.
