Looks like Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has made up his mind to have the four-time Super Bowl champions back in the city. He once again presented the proposition to the Kansas City Chiefs, calling them back home.
Just recently, Johnson made his thoughts public that he ought to bring the Chiefs back to the Dallas club like they were when founded. Those who are familiar with the history of the Chiefs know the franchise was initially established as the Dallas Texans– one of the original teams of the AFL. However, they cut their ties from Dallas and moved to Kansas City in 1963 and renamed themselves as ‘Kansas City Chiefs.’
However, despite bringing home three Super Bowl trophies in the last five years, the Missouri voters refused when asked to fund the renovation of their home stadium, Arrowhead. This created a crisis for the franchise as it may force them to reconsider their home city.
Taking advantage of the situation, Dallas Mayor gave the Chiefs a “serious opportunity” to solve their home stadium problem by coming back home to Dallas, in a conversation with Lukas Weese of TheAthletic.com.
The connections are so deep, the history is so rich. We actually could put together the deals that would make sense for them to get them here.Eric Johnson said
Mayor Eric Johnson’s tight-lipped strategy with Clark Hunt
While talking about why this offer is a steal for the Chiefs, Mayor Johnson was asked whether he has discussed his proposition with the Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, who has deep ties with Dallas City as his father established the Chiefs there and he also lives there.

However, Johnson refused to make a comment.
I’m not really at liberty to say other than I have a good open line of communication with Clark Hunt. And that line of communication remains.Eric Johnson said
As excited as the Dallas Mayor feels about this opportunity to have such prominent teams in one city, there’s a fair chance that the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wouldn’t be so happy.
And he surely wouldn’t want to share his home field stadium with the Chiefs. However, Mayor Johnson is optimistic that Dallas is big enough to accommodate two NFL teams. Perhaps, the decision is now in Hunt’s hands.
