With its share of lovable characters, like Zoro and Sanji, they managed to capture the hearts of many fans worldwide. Some of these characters met their untimely ends leaving a huge impact with their sacrifice and code. All of them had an equally sad impact on our mental states, with the hole they left in our hearts.
With every fan swearing that the hardest one to let go was Ace’s demise, we had other thoughts on this subject.

5. Pedro

Leader of the Guardians and a former pirate himself, Pedro was a great ally for the Strawhat Pirates as one of the members of the Sanji Retrieval Team in the Whole Cake Island arc. With a habit of standing on trees or other high places, he earned the nickname, Pedro of the Treetops.
His sacrifice to let the Strawhat Pirates escape by exploding a bomb stash in his jacket and incapacitating Perospero, left Sanji blaming himself for his demise, making up for one of the most heart wrenching moments in the series

After being humiliated by the shogunate and Kaidou, he learns of their lines and rises up in rebellion along with his most trustworthy companions.

Oden’s death left a lasting impact on viewers. At the climax of the Legendary Hour, Oden was sentenced to death by the Kurozumi shogunate by boiling in oil. All the citizens of Wano mourned the demise of their good-hearted leader. Oden’s last words before his death were, “I am Oden!! And I was born to boil!!”
3. Whitebeard

2 events in the Marineford arc left the series’ viewers heartbroken and in tears, one being Ace’s demise, and the other, being Whitebeard’s.
Being the leader of the world famous Whitebeard pirates and one of the members of Roger’s crew, Whitebeard was known for his terrifying strength despite his deteriorating age and health. During his altercation with the Blackbeard pirates led by Marshall D. Teach, Whitebeard suffered fatal injuries and still managed to destroy a huge amount of the marine fleet, ending in him dying from a cannonball to his chest. In his last breath, he revealed at the top of his lungs the existence of the legendary treasure One Piece and rekindled the fire of searching for it among all the pirates.

While trying to escape from Marineford, Akainu, the ruthless admiral of the Marines who had the power to control lava, caught up with them and attacked Luffy. Protecting him, Ace shielded Luffy with his body while Akainu pierced through it with his fist. This led to the most famous death of the series, with the sound of the always jolly captain of the Strawhat pirates wailing ringing in the ears of every fan.
1. Corazon
Donquixote Rosinante
Trafalgar Law’s backstory made many a fan weep tears of heavy sorrow. With his family and his fellow countrymen dying because of genocide and a deadly disease affecting him, he had his share of heart wrenching troubles as a child. But meeting with Corazon, or Donquixote Rosinante, managed to save his life. A member of the Marines working undercover among the Donquixote Pirates, he pretended to be mute and deceived his older brother, Doflamingo, to work for his downfall. Corazon met Law as a child, and after finding out about his sickness and his fate as a person carrying the D initial in his name, Corazon tried his best to cure Law of his illness, succeeding by feeding him the Ope Ope no Mi.
After his betrayal of the Donquixote Pirates, he is promptly executed by Doflamingo. His struggle to stay alive so that Law could escape due to the influence of his devil fruit left a burning impression on the viewers and tore the hearts of many fans.
