A slew of This Morning fans were unimpressed with Ben Shephard as they branded him “irritating”.

They couldn’t help but notice that the 49-year-old Tipping Point star was repeatedly taking his glasses off and putting them back on, which some found rather distracting. Viewers quickly took to Twitter to voice their annoyance during the ITV show.

Angry fans took to the platform, previously known as X, to plead for the ex-GMB star to either quit playing with his specs or switch to “contact lenses”. One viewer vented: “FFS Ben, either leave the glasses on or permanently take them off #ThisMorning.”

Another chimed in on the same habit, saying, “Put the glasses on, Ben Or put them down.” Echoing the sentiment, a third user remarked: “#Thismorning Ben needs contact lenses. Glasses on/off/on/off must surely be irritating #thismorning.”

In other news from earlier this week, chaos erupted on the daytime favourite when Ben’s co-host Cat Deeley had to leave the programme mid-interview due to illness. At the start of the show, the ex-SMTV Live presenter had admitted she was soldiering on despite suffering from a severe cold, reports the Mirror.

The 47-year-old was audibly struggling and broke into a fit of coughing, but her condition rapidly deteriorated. Coincidentally, Dr. Zoe and another medical professional were present on the show when it all became too much for Cat.

The presenter was discussing antidepressants with co-star Ben Shephard and a medical expert when she got up and walked off, leaving some viewers concerned for her wellbeing.

One confused viewer wrote on X: “Forbid Cat might have hayfever fgs #thismorning,” while another added: “Hope Cat’s ok. I’ve had coughing fits like that and they’re not fun #ThisMorning.”

Some viewers thought she should have stayed home, with one writing: “Why did Cat go in with a cold spreading it around #ThisMorning,” and another adding: “Stay at home Cat, ur barking like a dog today #thismorning.”

Ben was left to present the rest of the segment alone, joking: “You’re in good hands Cat, we’ve got two doctors here,” before quickly regaining control of the show. Upon her return, Ben asked Cat: “Are you alright? ,” to which she replied: “‘I think so, just about.”

Later, after returning from an ad break, she explained: “I’ve got a bit on a runny eye but i’ll be okay.”
