ITV hit show This Morning left fans feeling unmoored this week as a brass band was in place to perform the iconic theme tune – changing things up after almost 10 years

This Morning’s loyal fanbase were gobsmacked during the latest show when they realised the iconic theme tune had been swapped out after nearly ten years.

The beloved morning programme returned for its Friday slot with the energetic pair, Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, steering the ship. However, fans were thrown for a loop when Dermot and Alison kicked off the show accompanied by the Royal Marines brass band, who belted out the well-known This Morning jingle.

Despite the seamless musical handover, some viewers couldn’t hide their dismay, taking to Twitter to air their feelings.

One bemused fan tweeted: “When I first heard the theme music this morning I thought I was going mad lol, freaked out for a second.”

Another curious viewer pondered: “Wonder if that’s them that were on the stage with Take That.”

But some fans were loving the change and complimented the military players. One fan wrote: “Their medals I spot Iraq, Afghan, peacekeeping, Falklands and Kosovo. Brave brave men. I salute you all.” While another simply said: “Good musicians.”

It was not confirmed whether the band will be a permanent fixture on the show. But from the looks of it, the amazing band was just a one-off.

The news comes after regular presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard announced a new competition set to replace the iconic Spin To Win. After Thursday’s episode of This Morning aired, the show’s team excitedly posted an update on social media for fans who might have missed the broadcast.

In the footage, Ben announced: “Now then we’ve some exciting news to share with you. From next week, get ready to play a brand new competition that’s landing right here in the This Morning studio”.

Cat chimed in with: “Take a look at what the board looks like now”. The reveal was of the spanking new”Coin Drop game, where participants could bag themselves a cool £20,000. Ben highlighted that this hefty sum could be someone’s every single day.

Social media users, flocked to X, previously known as Twitter, expressed their thoughts on the update. One viewer commented: “At last, something to replace Spin to Win”, while another lamented: “Ah no I liked spin-to-win. Not that I ever entered [cry-laughing emoji]”. This Morning has been known for its Spin to Win game, where viewers could scoop various prizes by the spin of a wheel, provided they answered the hosts’ call with the right passphrase.
