A timeline of Nikki Minaj and Cardi B’s feud

Early 2017 – Cardi B bursts onto the rap scene with her hit track Bodak Yellow and people start comparing her to Nicki Minaj – rumours of a feud start brewing around this time.
May 2017 – Nicki dissed Cardi’s boyfriend Offset in the track Swish Swish, featuring Katy Perry, and even allegedly liked comments on Instagram that insulted Cardi. Later that same month, Cardi took to Instagram to hit back at Minaj by slyly talking about “idols who become rivals”.
July 2017 – Nicki was filmed dancing to Cardi’s track Bodak Yellow in a Miami nightclub in what appeared to be a show of support for the young rapper. But just weeks later, Nicki rapped: “Lil b**** I heard these labels tryna make another me” on track No Flag, just days after Cardi signs a record deal with Atlantic – the clapback came after Cardi had been repeatedly described as the “new Nicki”.
April 2018 – Cardi addresses the beef in an interview the day before her album, Invasion Of Privacy was released, saying: “I just feel like it’s really internet made-up, I don’t really have the time for that. If you not f**king my man, or if you’re not taking my money from me, if you’re not stopping my money, then I don’t really give a f**k about you.” She added: “I spoke to her before, in person. So I always say I don’t want anybody sneak-dissing me. If it’s something that we can talk it out, then we can talk it out, because it’s not always rah rah this or rah rah that.”

August 2018 – The feud seemed to escalate further after Cardi appeared to call out an unnamed woman’s behaviour during a performance at MoMA PS1. She declared: “You know this b***h she never f**king liked me, and all of a sudden she want to be friends with me — no, b**ch. I still don’t like you b***h.”

September 2018 – A scuffle broke out after Cardi approached Nicki for “spreading lies”. The pair were dressed in posh frocks when the altercation broke out at the New York Fashion Week Harper’s Bazaar party held at the Plaza. According to reports in TMZ, Cardi took off one of her red heels and threw it at Nicki – but the shoe missed as she was being protected by a large security guard.
November 2020 – Cardi B Slammed Wiz Khalifa for pitting her and Nicki Minaj “against each other” after the Grammy nominations were released.

The single only added to their animosity with post-release interviews littered with sly insults and digs at each other.
