Sony wants to bring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back for ‘Spider-Man 4’
It seems that Spider-Man: No Way Home might just be getting a sequel, and this time, Sony Pictures is eyeing another multiversal adventure.
Reports suggest that Sony Pictures is keen on making Spider-Man 4 another foray into the multiverse, following the immense success of No Way Home, which grossed $1.9 billion globally. However, the decision is met with mixed reactions, as Kevin Feige and Tom Holland prefer a more “grounded” approach, while Sony aims to bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Interestingly, previous plans for Spider-Man: No Way Home included Kraven the Hunter as the main villain, but were altered due to character availability issues. Additionally, conflicts between Sony and Marvel Studios led to scrapped cameos, like Tom Holland’s appearance in Venom.
Tobey Maguire seems open to reprising his role as Spider-Man, expressing enthusiasm for potential returns. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Kevin Feige had reached out to Andrew Garfield for a role in Avengers: Secret Wars before the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Tom Holland, on the other hand, is taking a break from big-budget blockbusters, seeking roles that push him beyond his comfort zone. As for Spider-Man 4, there’s no release date yet, leaving fans to ponder whether they prefer another multiversal adventure or a more grounded street-level conflict.
