SWIRLING rumours suggest Colombian singer Shakira is dating ex-NFL player Julian Edelman following her bitter split from Gerard Pique.

It comes as sports and celebrity fans across the world continue to go wild for another pop and NFL star duo: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Speculation has soared since Shakira shared a series of pictures snapped at her weekend 47th birthday celebrations, including one which featured American former football player Julian Edelman.

Edelman, 37, and the Hips Don’t Lie singer stood side by side with their arms around each other as they smiled at the camera in the black and white shot.

Fans of both Shakira and Edelman are now curious to know whether the image might point to the pair being romantically involved.

A three-time Super Bowl winner, Edelman announced his retirement in April 2021 after 12 seasons with the New England Patriots.

He has one child: a seven-year-old daughter.

The ex-NFL player recently revealed during an episode of Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meals that he is a fan of Taylor Swift, and of how she supposedly made “the league bigger” by dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

Edelman also happens to be the same age as Shakira’s Spanish former footballer ex Gerard Pique.

Shakira and Pique, who share two children, announced their separation in June 2022 after more than 11 years together.

Their split has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, with Shakira making subtle digs at Pique in her songs as Pique launched his new relationship with 25-year-old girlfriend Clara Chia Marti online.

The pop star spoke openly to media outlets and through her music about the pain she felt during the breakup and after, as she watched Pique move on.

Pique spoke for the first time since their split in March 2023 to say that he was trying to do “what’s best for their kids” amid the drama.

In June last year, a source revealed Shakira was seeing someone new: Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, 39.

The pair were spotted hanging out at the F1 Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, Spain and at the 2023 Grand Prix in Miami.

Hollywood icon Tom Cruise, 61, was also said to have been gunning for Shakira’s heart – and even sent her flowers after flirting with her at the Grand Prix – but was reportedly shot down by the pop icon, which was “a huge dent to Tom’s ego”, according to Radar Online’s source.

Shakira claimed in June last year to have learned that Pique had “betrayed” her while her dad was in the ICU.

It has been alleged that he cheated on Shakira multiple times, including with his current girlfriend, Clara.

The singer revealed in September that she “believed in ’til death do us part'” when she was with Pique.

She told Billboard: “My priority was my home, my family.

“I believed in ’til death do us part.’ I believed that dream.

“My parents have been together, I don’t know, 50 years, and they love each other like the first day, with a love that’s unique and unrepeatable. So I know it’s possible.”

She added: “It’s what I wanted for myself and my children, but it didn’t happen.”
