The What Was I Made For Artist remarked on “big artists” re-releasing their music on different hardcopy forms during an interview with Billboard.

While Billie, 22, didn’t mention Taylor, 34, by name, many fans believe her comments were squarely aimed at the Cruel Summer singer.

In the interview, Billie mentioned, “We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging.

“Which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money and gets them more.”

The No Time to Die singer asserted, “I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is.”

“It is right in front of our faces and people are just getting away with it left and right,” she continued.

Billie explained that she finds the reissuing of music on vinyl form “really frustrating” as someone who goes out of their way to be “sustainable” and does the best she can to make sure everyone in her team is also “being sustainable.”

She then seemed to allude to Taylor as she complained, “It’s some of the biggest artists in the world making f***ing forty different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more.”

Billie expressed that it deeply bothered her that some music artists are more concerned with numbers and making more money than what effects this wasteful practice has on the world.

Taylor routinely releases multiple versions of her albums on different formats, including vinyl, and is preparing to do it again – as she will soon drop 4 versions of her new album, as reported by TMZ.

Billie is also guilty of releasing various hard copy versions of her work but has made sure her vinyl records are made with recyclable materials such as “100% recycled black vinyl,” and “recycled scraps for colored variants”

Even the records’ packaging is made with eco-friendly materials, such as “shrink-wrap made from sugar cane.”

FREQUENT FLYER

Last month, Taylor traveled almost 20,000 miles by private jet in ten days — despite previously being slammed for her CO2 emissions.

TAYLOR’S TRAVELS

Taylor racked up approximately 19,164 air miles as she combined her Eras Tour dates with romance with NFL tight end Travis Kelce, 34.

The Look What You Made Me Do singer flew 5,477 miles from Los Angeles to Tokyo following the 2024 Grammy Awards.

She flew 5,530 miles back to the States to watch Travis and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, play the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.

Taylor then racked up another 8,157 miles flying to Melbourne, Australia to resume her tour.

The air travel over the ten-day period resulted in approximately 122 tons of CO2 emissions.

The emissions are offset in a number of ways including by buying carbon credits, which support verified projects that cut global emissions to protect vulnerable ecosystems.

A spokesman revealed, “Taylor purchased more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel.”

In 2022, Taylor was ranked as the world’s most carbon-polluting celebrity according to the analytics agency Yard, although other sources claimed that rapper Travis Scott was the top polluter.

Data released in August 2022 claimed that her private jet made 170 flights in seven months, amounting to 8,000 tons of carbon emissions.

That is 1,184 times more than the average person’s annual carbon emissions.

A spokesman stated that all the pollution may not be Taylor’s as her jet is “loaned out regularly to other individuals.”

They continued, “To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.”

Despite her travels, Taylor has recently downsized by selling her second private jet.

News of her extravagant private plane mileage came after it emerged she is threatening to sue a college student who has been sharing her flight information online.

Jack Sweeney, 21, uses publicly available data to track jets owned by the rich and famous – and Taylor’s legal team has said the practice amounts to “stalking.”

In December 2023, Jack was sent a cease-and-desist letter where they claimed the data, posted a day after each of the flights, posed “an imminent threat to the safety and wellbeing” of the singer.
