Rihanna REVEALS How Beyonce Tried To K!ll Her Career

I wish I could say that Rihanna still loves Beyonce like she did when she first blew up, but unfortunately, that’s not the case.

There’s definitely tension there, but what exactly went down? Did the fallout have anything to do with Jay Z? And did Beyonce intentionally try to sabotage RiRi’s career? Better trust me when I say that I have all the juicy details!

Oprah Winfrey revealed she was strongly encouraged to cast a superstar in her upcoming film, The Color Purple, to ensure the project would be a box-office hit.

While acknowledging the pressure to sell a record-breaking number of ticket sales, the media icon, 69, revealed she was asked if she could ‘get Beyoncé’ or Rihanna to star in the production, which is a big-screen adaptation of the 2005 Broadway musical, based on the 1982 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name.

‘To be completely honest about it, if you were doing this film for $30 or $40 million, the interest in the cast would be very different,’ she told The Hollywood Reporter. ‘Once the film moved to $90 to $100 million, then everybody wants us to bring Beyoncé. ‘Can you get Beyoncé or can you get Rihanna?’

The talk show host, who originally played Sofia in the 1985 film adaptation of The Color Purple, recalled sitting in a room, saying: ‘Listen, we love Beyoncé. We love Rihanna, but there are other actors who can do this job.’

‘I do remember conversations about, ‘Y’all, Beyoncé is going to be busy this year.’ It wasn’t even a negotiation, because you’re not getting Beyoncé,’ she mused, nodding to the 32-time Grammy winner’s grueling schedule for The Renaissance World Tour, which grossed $579 million.

Meanwhile, Rihanna gave birth to two boys, just 15 months, apart between 2022 and 2023, in addition to headlining the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, which took place in February.

Despite not casting Beyonce or Rihanna, Winfrey secured a star-studded cast that includes Danielle Brooks, Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo and Halle Bailey.

Other stars include Corey Hawkins, David Alan Grier, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, H.E.R., Ciara, Jon Batiste and Deon Cole, among others.

Winfrey served as a producer, alongside Steven Spielberg, on the musical adaptation of The Color Purple, which hits theaters on December 25, 2023.

Her revelation comes after opening up about using weight-loss medication to shed 40 pounds in recent months.

The admission comes after Winfrey previously said she would not take Ozempic and similar drugs in the class of weight-loss medications because she viewed them as an ‘easy way out’ during a discussion with WeightWatchers CEO Sima Sistani.

‘I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing,’ she told People earlier this week.

Winfrey’s continued: ‘The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.’
