In a perfect union of style and action, two of Hollywood’s most charismatic stars, Henry Cavill and Jackie Gyllenhaal, will join forces in filmmaker Guy Ritchie’s directorial, In The Grey.

The trailer of the film, which is set to hit theaters in early 2025, was released by Lionsgate Films during CinemaCon 2024 and is already garnering a lot of hype.

Adding more glamor to the narrative will be Mexican sensation Eiza Gonzalez, who is currently the talk of the town with her latest series, Three Body Problem.

Working for the second time in a Ritchie film will surely be a big feather in the cap for Gonzalez, who faced bitter disappointment a few years ago when she narrowly missed out on playing this cult DC character.

Beginning her journey as a child star in Mexico, Eiza Gonzalez carved an inspiring path to Hollywood, which saw the actor gaining recognition and success in films like Baby Driver, Bloodshot, and Godzilla Vs Kong. Gonzalez is now ruling the roost currently with her presence in the 2024 sci-fi series Three Body Problem.

The Ambulance star has well and truly entered the big leagues after being signed on by Guy Ritchie for his action thriller In The Grey in which she will share screen space with two of Hollywood’s hottest leading men, Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal.

This will mark the second collaboration of the Mexican star and the British director after The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (via Screen Rant).

But before these prominent gigs, Gonzalez almost bagged a major role in the DC franchise when she auditioned for Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. While the singer was extremely positive that she would win the part after going as far as doing a detailed screen test, the result did not go in her favor.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gonzalez spoke candidly of the deep disappointment she went through after coming so close to playing this iconic character, which was ultimately portrayed by Zoë Kravitz in the film.

“It’s impossible not to do that, especially when you get so far down the line. It’s part of why you’re so far down the line, because you’re living and dreaming the character.

It is heartbreaking, it is always hard. You have to envision yourself in the role in order to see the role. You can’t have one foot in and one foot out.”

Despite the Baby Driver actor missing out on a massive opportunity to play a cult DC superhero, it looks like her career is currently filled with a lot of promising opportunities that should catapult her to Hollywood superstardom in no time.

Eiza Gonzalez Was Ecstatic To Be Part Of Three Body Problem

While Catwoman may have slipped through her hands, Mexican star Eiza Gonzalez is not letting other big opportunities get past her. The actor is currently dazzling audiences as the central protagonist in the blockbuster series, Three Body Problem.

This sci-fi thriller, which is based on the novel of the same name by Liu Cixin, has been visualized for the screen by Game Of Thrones creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and is being appreciated by audiences and critics across the world.

While Gonzalez has been a popular face thanks to her international appeal and the projects she’s done around the world, she confessed that the prospect of living up to the reputation of a cult  novel made her feel some pressure to do justice to it.

But all these trepidations vanished when the actor got hold of the script. Revealing the surreal feeling she had on seeing the narrative unfold before her, Gonzalez immediately made the choice to be part of this illustrious project. Speaking to L’Officiel, she elaborated on the aspects of the story that stood out and made her a huge fan.

“After I educated myself, read the scripts, and read the book, there was no way I couldn’t be part of this show. I have never seen a show like this. There [isn’t one show or one movie] that I can reference…I would have to reference seven different types of sci-fi to explain our show. I think that, to me, it was a no-brainer. It was groundbreaking.”

Gonzalez was also grateful that she was given the opportunity to be part of projects that challenged her as an artist and gave her meaty roles to sink her teeth into. Judging by the reception that she is getting from fans across the world, her future films will definitely be garnering a lot of attention.
