In response to those who have criticized his impending bout with Jake Paul, Mike Tyson has stated that other fighters are merely envious of the publicity the contest is receiving. 80,000 people are anticipated to see the bout between Paul and Tyson at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, and millions more will watch it on Netflix.

Mike Tyson has maintained that his bout with Jake Paul will garner billions of views. This summer, on July 20, boxing legend “Iron Mike” will return to the ring to take on social media phenom Jake Paul.

On fight night, Paul and Tyson will be over 30 years apart in age, and the former heavyweight champion has been advised that a boxing ring is not something he should go near at his age.

The heavyweight icon has drawn a lot of flak for electing to enter the ring again at the age of 58 to square off against Paul in what may or may not be an official professional match. Iron Mike hasn’t engaged in a professional fight since 2005 when he was defeated by Kevin McBride. However, in 2020, he did participate in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr.

Recently, Jake Paul defeated Ryan Bourland. Before this, he had battled several notable fighters, including UFC luminaries Ben Askren, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Nate Diaz. Paul has faced criticism for not competing against “real” boxers despite his accomplishments. He will now, however, take on the legendary boxer Mike Tyson.

Mike Tyson’s Answer Before His Boxing Match

Paul and Tyson both want the battle to be recognized as a legitimate professional fight. In response to his detractors, Tyson told Reuters today:

“I’m 58 and what? I’m getting billions of views from just talking to somebody about fighting. Everybody, even most of the athletes, they’re jealous, that’s whack. “I say in your prime you couldn’t draw a million people, man. What are you talking, you couldn’t sell out arena. Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat arena? Why you think he wants to fight me and not anybody else? Everybody wants to fight him, all the boxers want to fight him. But if he fought them the only people that will come are the people that like him.”

Millions of people will undoubtedly still be interested in the boxing legend’s fight, and he is expected to win a sizable $20 million purse.
