Unable to find the solution against Rudy Gobert, the Warriors had to lose this Sunday against the Timberwolves (110-114). At the end of this evening, Steve Kerr returned to the problems caused by the star interior to his team.

Rudy Gobert and Steve Kerr

After their defeat against the Pacers, the Warriors tried to return to victory against the Timberwolves this Sunday. Unfortunately for them, they came up against a wall called “Rudy Gobert” and had to concede their second failure in a row (110-114). However, the Californians had started the game well, leading by 9 points at the end of the first quarter, and they were still ahead at the break.

However, Chris Finch’s men returned from the locker room with a completely different mindset and better tactics. Thus, the second period was fatal for the Dubs, especially because of the presence of Rudy Gobert whether in defense… or in attack! In front of the press, Steve Kerr therefore spoke about the difficulties encountered by his team during this confrontation and the impact of the triple DPOY.

It’s true that we had moments of offensive breakdown, but these are things that happen in all matches. We tried to limit them as much as possible. They scored 68 points in the second half and 36 in the final quarter, so they did a good job retaining the ball in the second half. I think they only lost it 3 times in the second half. They were very clean in attack as well.

Gobert got in the paint a few times, he took away our defense, so they did a good job offensively. We will have to execute in a better way in the future, we will play in a different style. We will do more pick & roll with Chris Paul, but we had some ball losses at times which hurt us. We had open shots but they didn’t go in. The energy was there but not the success, we just have to keep moving forward.

Author of an excellent performance by scoring a whopping 17 points at 70% (7/10), 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 interceptions and 1 block, Rudy Gobert was largely the cause of the Warriors’ problems. Once installed near his racket like that of the 2022 champions, the latter were unable to find the solution to obtain easy baskets or contain the opposing offensives.

And it is especially in money time that the Bay Area franchise has failed to move up a gear. In the end, they remain stuck in 10th position in the West, while the Wolves are in 3rd place. Who knows, maybe we had the beginnings of a clash for the next playoffs? If so, Steve Kerr will probably come up with a new strategy for a better scenario.

In this meeting which was decided on a few details but not the least, the Warriors collapsed against the Timberwolves this Sunday. Steve Kerr therefore had to compliment his opponents for their use of Rudy Gobert during this match.
