A crew member has stepped forward to support Depp’s side of the story.

According to Variety, Lola Glaudini, a cast member of Blow, accused Johnny Depp of verbally abusing her during a day on set.

The accusation surfaced on the Powerful Truth Angels podcast earlier this year but has recently garnered attention in the media, prompting Depp to issue an official statement in defence.

In the 2001 film Blow, Johnny Depp starred alongside Penelope Cruz and the late Paul Reubens.

The movie is based on the true story of notorious cocaine smuggler George Jung, portrayed by Depp himself.

Lola Glaudini had a minor role in the film, and the alleged incident occurred after a scene where she was in the background while Depp was delivering a monologue.

Glaudini stated that Demme instructed her character to “burst out laughing” after Depp’s monologue. She claimed that after complying with this direction for a few takes, Depp suddenly began to verbally attack and insult her, using profanity to demand her silence for the rest of the shoot.

As per Deadline, Johnny Depp’s representative issued a statement addressing the alleged incident, stressing Depp’s commitment to fostering positive working relationships with his colleagues on film sets.

Depp’s statement reads: “Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time.”

Sound technician Samuel Sarkar, who has worked with Depp on other projects such as Chocolat and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, provided a statement refuting Glaudini’s account, saying he never witnessed or heard of any behaviour resembling what was described.

Sarkar said: “As a sound person, you’re constantly listening to what is going on on set, listening for noises, listening for chatter.

He continued: “In fact, specifically, I would listen to Johnny’s audio to check for interference, both during rehearsals and during the take. I never heard anything like that – and that would have been a remarkable event.”
