This Morning’s Ben Shephard didn’t hold back as he playfully reprimanded his co-host Cat Deeley during Wednesday’s show.

The light-hearted moment unfolded as the duo were previewing the day’s lineup, discussing their upcoming chat with actress Sherrie Hewson. Cat let slip: “She’s best known for playing Corrie’s Maureen Holdsworth but now Sherrie Hewson is making history in Hollyoaks as she becomes the show’s oldest serial killer.”

“She’s going to kill me for saying this at 73, she’ll be joining us live.” Ben couldn’t resist a chuckle as Cat inadvertently mentioned their guest’s age, before teasingly chiding her, reports the Mirror.

He joked: “Don’t reveal the age of a serial killer! Are you mad?” To which Cat responded: “Why on earth did I do that?” The banter seemed all in good fun, with Ben having already delivered a few playful digs at Cat earlier in the week.

In a previous episode, Ben made a lighthearted jab about Cat’s husband while they discussed the recent winner of the world’s ugliest dog contest. The champion, named Wild Than, is an eight year old Pekingese who has been left with lasting effects from a virus contracted as a puppy.

When guest panellist Sonia Sodha remarked that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Cat concurred, adding “I also quite like an underdog! I quite like a dog with literally three legs or-”

Ben Shephard cheekily asked Cat Deeley if she was more attracted to less attractive dogs, to which she agreed. In a playful jab, he quipped: “That’s why you married Paddy [Kielty]?”

Their two guests were visibly taken aback by the comment, responding with awkward laughter as Cat retorted: “Oh my goodness, you know he’s poorly at the moment! So, he can’t sort you out!”

Since the beginning of March, Cat and Ben have been co-hosting the ITV show, following the departure of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. The duo has since developed a jovial on-screen rapport, often seen sharing laughs and banter throughout the programme.
