New reports from the industry insider Daniel Richtman have now revealed that the actor and playwright Colman Domingo is in talks to play the role of the villain in the next installment of the Jurassic World franchise. The 54-year-old actor is known for his exceptional performance on both screen and stage.

Fresh off his Oscar nomination for the 2033 biographical drama, Rustin, Domingo’s potential casting adds an intriguing dimension to the film.

He is also known for his Emmy-winning portrayal of Ali in the acclaimed HBO series Euphoria, along with The Color Purple, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and Zola among others.

Director Gareth Edwards joined the next Jurassic World film, titled Jurassic City after filmmaker David Leitch dropped out of the movie over creative differences. With a new director on board, the studio has been assembling an impressive cast for the film.

Reports have confirmed Scarlett Johansson as the lead in the upcoming movie, and subsequent rumors suggest that Oscar-nominated actor Dev Patel could also join the former Marvel star in the upcoming film in the celebrated franchise. Many fans have shared that they are looking forward to seeing a dinosaur as a villain rather than a human villain. They argued how the original films in the franchise primarily focused on the chaos caused by prehistoric creatures and expressed exhaustion with the recurring trope of human villains.

And they have shared that they wish to see more of such depictions, as another fan stated, “I’m getting tired of the human villain trope.” Others also argued against having “corny human villains” in the franchise moving ahead.
