Dwayne Johnson trolled Jalen Hurts as an excuse for being late on Thursday night at WWE World at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The multiple-time Heavyweight Champion of the World was in Philly as the build-up continued for WrestleMania 40.

For once, The Rock wasn’t on time. Initially, he was supposed to arrive around 4 p.m. but he was 2 hours late facing boos from the hoards of wrestling fans who were eagerly waiting to see the ‘Peoples Champ.’

Besides WWE, there are two more things that the Philly natives love the most: Cheesesteak and their NFL team Philadelphia Eagles. Despite the loud jeers inside the venue, Johnson was unfazed and pulled a fast one on the fans.

What are you booing? Are you booing because The Rock was supposed to be here at 4 o'clock? Is that what you're booing?

The Rock questioned

The Fast and Furious star was only getting warmed up. He thrives in these situations, and being one of the greatest trash talkers ever to set foot in WWE, Johnson knew how to gain the upper hand. He rubbed salt in an old Philadelphia wound.

I [The Rock] was watching YouTube, watching Jalen Hurts lose in the playoffs again. You boo because it's the truth. Now that The Rock has shown up, you have greatness in front of you. You stand there, shut your mouth, and enjoy the ride that The Rock is cooking.

Jalen Hurts search for the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles continues

It was another disappointing campaign for the Eagles, especially Jalen Hurts. Following a blistering start to the season, winning 10 games from 11, the Eagles capitulated later on. They only managed to win 1 in 6 and finished with an 11-6 record, missing out on the second seed in the NFC.

Also, Hurts failed to make an impact in the wild card against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Baker Mayfield and Co. ran out 32-9 winners, booking a place in the divisional round.

It’s unclear whether Johnson is a Buccaneers fan (hailing from the Bay Area) or a massive hater of the Eagles. It doesn’t really matter because he managed to trigger the Philadelphia natives.

As for Jalen Hurts, his search for another shot at the Super Bowl continues. He led the Eagles to the all-important game of the 2022 season but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Eagles selected the Alabama graduate in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, he has racked up exactly 1000 pass completions for 11,764 passing yards, 67 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions. Additionally, the 25-year-old rushed 524 times, covering 2503 yards and walking in 41 touchdowns (mostly because of the infamous tush-push).
