Draymond Green has been central to many of the Golden State Warrior’s issues this season. From suspension to ejection the former DPOY has failed Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in multiple ways. However, a breaking point came when the Dubs faced the Orlando Magic and Green was ejected within four minutes of the game. The frustration was so heavy that Steph was broken into tears.
So, in an attempt at self-reflection Green himself asked Klay how the team feels when he is ejected in their latest podcast. Thompson doesn’t respond to the question honestly due to his and Steph’s “nice guy” attitude. “So when you’re not out there, it’s like a piece of us is gone,” says Klay.
However, NBA legend Tim Lagler didn’t hesitate to call Green out on his antics saying Klay’s reaction was dishonest on ESPN.” I don’t actually think Klay Thompson was being honest in terms of what internally Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, Steve Kerr, and that organization feels when moments like that happen,” said Lagler.

He further blasted Draymond saying, “Talking about a team that still has Steph Curry playing at that level, and when you [Draymond Green] can’t control your emotions to that extent four minutes into a game that you have to have this late in the season, there’s no other word for it for me other than selfish, because that’s a guy that can’t put the collective ahead of his own venting needs.”

Green’s antics have led him to suspension twice this season and ejection 2 times more. The noticeable void in defense in his absence has brought the team to 11-14. While the Dubs won the game 101-93 against Orlando, there was a huge dent in seeing Steph and their dynasty feeling so helpless; which might persist towards a greater fall, if Green -as Lagler suggests- doesn’t learn the reality of his actions.
The road ahead for Stephen Curry and the Warriors
With Only a few games remaining till the play-in tournament, the Warriors are in a tough spot, occupying the 10th seed. Tonight will probably be a preview of the play-in tournament against the Los Angeles Lakers as the Dubs head to Cryto.com Arena. While as of now all their major starters are playing, it will be tough to defeat the Lakers who have been sensational in the last stretch of the regular season; winning 8 of their last 10 matchups.

This time the Warriors don’t have the luxury to re-group in the play-in tournament. If they lose to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, their season ends swiftly, but the offseason is where the challenge lies. Can the Dubs make it to the playoffs? Will the Big Three remain next season?
