Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will be teammates but how does the Indiana Fever ace feel about linking up with someone who has so publicly celebrated her defeats through professional and college basketball? Clark‘s reaction left fans stunned.

However, this could be the exact reaction that Clark didn’t want as she called for the fans of the sport to recognise the other exceptional talents in the Team WNBA vs Team USA game, serving as a special edition because of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The overall first pick of the 2024 Draft and Reese, who plays for the Chicago Sky, have been rivals since the 2023 NCAA season when Reese was spotted gloating at Clark after some trash talk during the game as the LSU Tigers defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes to win the championship.

Clark then got her own back a year later by eliminating the Tigers in March Madness and since they’ve gone pro, Reese has continued to make not-so-subtle digs at the 22-year-old and has even celebrated her getting hurt like when her Chicago Sky teammate fouled her off the ball, although Clark tries to downplay the existence of a rivalry.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been her teammate before,” Clark told media on Tuesday, July 2. “Even with USA Basketball or anything like that. So, I know people are going to be really excited about it.

“But I hope it doesn’t take away from everybody else. This is a huge accomplishment for everybody on Team USA and everybody on Team WNBA. They all deserve the same praise.

“I don’t want it to take away from any of that and just be the focal point of All-Star weekend because that’s not fair to them.”

The comments came after the Indiana Fever suffered a heavy loss to the Las Vegas Aces, being beaten 88-69 and dropping behind the Sky in the Eastern Conference standings. Clark posted 13 points, 11 assists and six rebounds in the loss at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada.

Who will play in the 2024 WNBA All-Star game?

As aforementioned, this year’s edition will serve as a one off with the 2024 Summer Olympic Games due to be held in Paris, France as Team USA bids to continue their domination of the sport abroad.

It will be held on July 20 and can be viewed live on ABC with a 20:30 ET/17:30 PT start as Clark bids to show Team USA what they’re missing in her first ever All-Star game after she was snubbed by her country for a chance to win gold this summer, but who else is playing against her and with her?
